Meet The Team
Honorary President
Professor Jon Bennett
Greetings to all EMTS members: Carpe Diem
Although a native West Midlander, I have spent the majority of my life in the East Midlands including Nottingham, Derby and now Leicester. I have had some fantastic times working in these cities with amazing teams who have reinforced my belief that respiratory medicine is a great specialty caring for lovely patients. The EMTS is a great opportunity for the respiratory teams in the East Midlands to come together, to share learning and knowledge, to support each other and, ultimately, to improve care for our patients.
On a personal level, it is a great honour and privilege to be President of the EMTS and I thank you all for your support of the Society although I acknowledge that my appointment is more likely to be a reflection of increasing age.

Respiratory Consultant at Sherwood Forest NHS Trust since 2009 with interests in pleural disease, lung cancer and education. I helped set up the revamped EMTS in 2016 in my role as TPD for North of the region to ensure; to allow news ideas and research to be shared, keep knowledge up to dare and allow trainees to showcase their work. I have been involved in all the conferences since then and keep developing the Society to ultimately improve care for our patients in the East Midlands.
When I'm not at work I play hockey for Beeston HC (mainly in the masters side now!), try to jog regularly and have recently taken up paddle boarding!
